केरल में मई से अब तक दिमाग खाने वाले अमीबा के चार केस मिले हैं। सभी मरीज बच्चे हैं, जिनमें से तीन की पहले ही मौत हो चुकी है। मेडिकल एक्सपर्ट्स बताते हैं कि यह संक्रमण तब होता है जब फ्री-लिविंग गैर-परजीवी अमीबा बैक्टीरिया दूषित पानी से नाक के जरिए शरीर में घुसता है।

Four cases of brain-eating amoeba have been found in Kerala since May. All the patients are children, three of whom have already died. Medical experts say that this infection occurs when free-living non-parasitic amoeba bacteria enter the body through the nose from contaminated water.
