2007 में रावलपिंडी में चुनाव प्रचार के दौरान बेनजीर की हत्या कर दी गई। इसके बाद 2008 से 2013 तक जरदारी देश के 11वें राष्ट्रपति रहे।आसिफा के भाई 35 वर्षीय बिलावल भुट्टो पाकिस्तान पीपुल्स पार्टी (पीपीपी) के अध्यक्ष और पिता जरदारी सह-अध्यक्ष हैं। पिछली शहबाज शरीफ सरकार में बिलावल विदेश मंत्री रह चुके हैं। आसिफा की बड़ी बहन बख्तावर शिक्षा जगत में सक्रिय हैं।

Asifa's brother, 35-year-old Bilawal Bhutto is the President of Pakistan People's Party (PPP) and father Zardari is the co-chairman. Bilawal had been the Foreign Minister in the previous Shahbaz Sharif government. Asifa's elder sister Bakhtawar is active in the education world.
